Straights

Kharybdis (Vratnik): the narrows between NERITON (Peljesac) and AIGILIPS (the Elaphites).

FICTITIOUS GEOGRAPHY
‘Straights’ (or ‘narrows’) necessarily have an association with ‘capes’ (though the inverse is not necessarily true), such that the situation of this straight is diametrically opposite that of Leukas (Lovis¼te), and may be schematically represented thus:

Leukas
Neriton(Peljesac)
Kharybdis

The geonym for this geographical concept--that is, a place where Odysseus claimed to have suffered yet another disaster--is the only instance of an outright invention--a bold ‘lie’ if you wish, knowing the character of Odysseus ‘of the many wiles’--for all other geonyms of Fictitious Geography are nothing more than new names for already extant geonyms).
